Board and Train

Freedom Through Clarity

At Bad Pup Club, our Board and Train programs are designed for dogs who are ready to go beyond the basics. Whether you dream of a calm café companion, an off-leash hiking buddy, or simply a dog you can trust in the real world, we help you get there while prioritizing your dog’s mental well-being every step of the way.

From our private ranch in Southern California, we offer immersive, relationship-based training that blends structure, trust, and clarity. Your dog will be fully integrated into our daily routine, receiving personalized sessions that go far beyond sit and stay. We focus on off-leash obedience, real-world public manners, and building calm confidence in unfamiliar environments so your dog doesn’t just behave, they feel better, too.

What sets us apart is our emphasis on clarity and engagement. We don’t just teach dogs what to do, we teach them to want to work with their owners. Through a balanced and thoughtful approach, we help your dog understand expectations clearly, making obedience feel natural, not forced. This leads to a dog that’s not just well-behaved at home, but eager to be your travel companion, trail buddy, or city-sidekick wherever life takes you.

Our goal is simple: to help you enjoy life with your dog and to help your dog enjoy it, too. These aren’t bootcamp-style programs with quick fixes. This is a lifestyle-focused training experience that creates lasting change and sets your dog up for long-term success.

The Essentials

  • Everyday obedience for a calm, manageable home life.

This program is the starting point for dogs who need structure, clarity, and on-leash obedience in and around the home. Over three weeks, your dog will learn how to walk calmly on leash, stay in place when asked, come when called, and settle inside the house all through a balanced, relationship-based approach that prioritizes communication and engagement over correction. This is an ideal fit for first-time dog owners, recently adopted dogs, or any pup that’s never had consistent training.

You’ll leave with a reliable foundation and a dog who understands the rules of the home and looks to you for guidance. If your dog pulls on walks, struggles to settle indoors, or simply needs help listening around distractions, this program gives them (and you) the structure to succeed.

  • 3 Weeks (21 Days) Total (1 Week Decompression + 2 Weeks Training)

Your dog’s first week is dedicated to decompression giving them time to settle into the new environment and bond with their trainer. During this time, we begin light foundational work while helping your dog feel comfortable and open to learning. The remaining two weeks are spent building leash manners, engagement, calm behaviors, and household structure. This timeline is ideal for dogs starting from scratch or needing a reset on their obedience at home.

  • This program focuses on the foundational skills every dog needs for a calm and manageable home life. We use a combination of leash pressure, clear communication, and engagement-based exercises to help your dog understand what’s expected of them and how to succeed.

Board and train Faq

  • Your dog will stay with us in our home on our private, secure property in Hemet, California. They’re not kept in a facility or warehouse-style kennel, they’re part of our daily routine, receiving structure, rest, social time, and hands-on training throughout the day.

  • Dogs can start our Board and Train programs as early as 4 months old, as long as they’ve completed their final round of vaccinations. For our off-leash programs like The Explorer or The Freedom, we typically recommend waiting until at least 6 months of age to give your puppy more time to mature mentally and emotionally before beginning more advanced training.

For puppies under 4 months of age, check out our Puppy Programs.

If you’re unsure what’s best for your dog’s age and development, feel free to book a free evaluation—we’re happy to guide you to the right fit.

  • You won’t just get a trained dog, you’ll get the knowledge and support to keep the training going at home. Every program includes weekly private lessons (starting after Week 2) so you can begin learning alongside your dog. At the end of the program, we do a 1–2 hour Go-Home session where we walk you through everything your dog has learned, how to handle them confidently, and how to maintain their progress.

You’ll also receive lifetime trainer support and access to our private Facebook group for ongoing guidance, resources, and updates even after your program ends.

  • Yes! Starting after the second week, we include weekly private lessons where you’ll meet with us (either at our property or a nearby location) to work hands-on with your dog. These sessions are a key part of the program and allow you to learn everything your pup is practicing so you can confidently maintain their training once they return home.

Rather than casual visits, these guided sessions are designed to build your skills and strengthen the bond between you and your dog with the trainer’s support.

  • Absolutely! We share regular updates on both Instagram and Facebook Stories, so you can follow your dog’s progress throughout their stay. You'll get to see their training, playtime, and milestones along the way.

If you prefer more direct updates, just let us know, we’re happy to accommodate.

  • Yes, we’re happy to work with you to create a custom payment plan if needed. Just let us know during your consultation and we’ll figure out a schedule that works, as long as the plan is finalized before your dog’s drop-off date. We also offer third-party financing options like Affirm or Klarna if you prefer.

Our goal is to make training accessible without compromising quality or results.

  • Yes, we offer a 10% discount for military members and first responders as a thank you for your service.

We also offer a 10% discount for additional dogs from the same household when enrolled at the same time. Please note that weekly sessions are combined and tune-up sessions are only included for the first dog in multi-dog programs.

If you’re unsure what works best for your situation, feel free to ask, we’re happy to walk through your options during your consultation.

  • These programs focus on obedience, structure, and relationship-based training. If your dog struggles with serious behavioral issues like reactivity, resource guarding, or aggression, we recommend looking into our Behavioral Modification Programs instead. Click here to learn more.

  • Training isn’t about flipping a switch, it’s about building a language, a relationship, and a lifestyle. We’ll lay the foundation and give you the tools, but long-term success depends on consistency at home. That’s why our programs include lessons, tune-ups, and lifetime support.

  • We’re not a franchise or a one-size-fits-all facility. We take a relationship-first approach working with your dog’s mindset, not just their obedience. Dogs stay in our home, receive real-world training, and learn to genuinely enjoy working with their people. We don’t just change behavior, we help dogs feel better and owners feel confident.
